About Mark J Montgomery
Mark Montgomery is a fine artist focused on creating abstract collage works using vintage ephemera mounted on wood panel. Deeply influenced by Abstract artists of the early to mid 20th Century, Mark finds his inspiration in richly printed objects, from decades long past. Mark’s creative process starts with choosing 3 printed samples from which a visual story gels once more paper and images are applied. Eventually, a rhythm and composition emerge from this mashup of vintage and assorted papers, taking the viewer to either another realm or into the psyche of the subject in the artrwork.
Mark’s work has been exhibited at a solo show at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in 2025 and was also included in the VAC’s 2025 Annual Gala Silent Auction. His work has appeared in Plastikomb magazine (USA/Germany) as well as the UK magazine Contemporary Collage. When not creating fine art, Mark serves as an award-winning Creative Director at IEEE Spectrum (spectrum.ieee.org), a science and technology magazine based in New York City.
