Mark J Montgomery
Mark is a fine artist focused on creating abstract collage works using vintage ephemera mounted on wood panel. Deeply influenced by Abstract artists of the early to mid 20th Century, Mark finds his inspiration in richly printed objects, from decades long past. Mark’s creative process starts with choosing printed samples from which a visual story emerges when paper, paint and objects are applied. Eventually, a rhythm and composition emerge from this mashup of materials, taking the viewer to a realm of abstraction and color.
Mark’s work has been exhibited as a solo show at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in 2025 and also included in the VAC’s 2025 Annual Gala Silent Auction. His artwork is in private collections in New Jersey, New York City and Virginia. His collages have appeared in Plastikomb magazine (USA/Germany) as well as Contemporary Collage (UK). When not creating fine art, Mark serves as an award-winning Creative Director at IEEE Spectrum (spectrum.ieee.org), a science and technology magazine based in New York City.
